About the event
Jeremy Triblett, an international trainer and consultant, has designed and facilitated training on power, privilege and identity for
Kohls Department Stores, Victoria's Secret and Americorp. They've been touched by his ability to create brave spaces and facilitate transformative conversations.
“This training was effective at getting the obvious point across. We need to buy- in to equity and MEAN IT, not just act or say it. And that means big changes, hard decisions, and acknowledging the system, as is, is part of the problem. Jeremy articulates the learnings, content, and history and helps me think differently about how we show up, how we do harm, and how we can be better advocates as humans.” - Zilber Family Foindation
The truth is, everyone has some level of power and privilege. Some of us were born with it, others inherited it and many people have acquired it. All of us need to ask ourselves, “How can I leverage my power and privilege to make life equitable for others?”
This training is for managers, coordinators and executives serious about addressing the intersection of power, privilege and identity. Together, they'll discuss all the ways they can leverage their powers and privileges to dismantle them. Only then, will we create spaces where all people enjoy equitable access to resources, relationships and systems.
Here's what we'll get done together, we'll:
Address personal biases against people groups and discuss ways to hold ourselves accountable to bigoted behaviors.
Review tools of oppressive systems and how they've been used historically and in present day.
Spin The Power Wheel to discuss tangible opportunities to advocate for historically oppressed people groups and dismantle our privilege.
Identify at least one way we'll leverage our power and privilege to dismantle them.
