About the event
Are you willing to lose elements of your privilege to help someone else’s life become easier to navigate? In the face of interpersonal harm, everyone must learn how to stand up and speak the truth when someone else lacks the power to stand alone. This training teaches you how to intervene with antibias actions used to counteract, challenge, diminish or neutralize an individual's or institution's prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. They include everyday words or deeds whose primary purpose is to:
1. Validate the worth of the person/people being harmed.
2. Challenge the harmful impact of the persons/institutions
3. Minimize the sense of helplessness amongst targeted groups.
During this learning experience, we’ll use fun, engaging, and creative learning strategies to:
1. Hold ourselves accountable for our problematic ideas and actions.
2. Support historically marginalized people when they are advocating for themselves.
3. Intervene harm done to others when they can’t.
